Tool Options Panel

The tool option panel shows different options depending on the active tool. There are some tools without options. Other tools have very similar options. Painting Tools - Tool Options Panels Tools: [[Freehand|v1.2-Freehand-Tool]], [[Lines and Curves|v1.2-Lines-and-Curves]], [[Connected Lines|v1.2-Connected-Lines]], [[Ellipses and Circles|v1.2-Ellipses-and-Circles]] All controls in this Option panel are connected to the Brush Editor window. They are shortcuts to quickly tweak brush settings. Brush settings: Size - Changes the base value of the Radius brush setting Opaque - Changes the base value of the Opacity brush setting Sharp - Changes the base value of the Hardness brush setting Gain - Change the base value of the Pressure Gain brush setting Smooth - Changes the base value of the Slow Position Tracking brush setting.

Scratchpad Panel

The Scratchpad panel is a versatile canvas space. Preview Panel

The Preview panel helps you to navigate on the canvas. It shows the entire image in real time while you can focus on the details. You can choose to enable or disable the view finder, that illustrates which part of the canvas is visible on screen. Drag the view finder to move your view position of the canvas. Palette Panel

The palette dock panel is a place where you can save the colors that you use for your artwork. Like most of the panels built within MyPaint, the Color Palette can be docked into a sidebar or floated free. Clicking on any of the colors would switch your current tool’s color with the one that is chosen. Double-clicking it opens the [[Colour Details|v1.2 Numeric Colour values]] window where you can change the selected color.

Layers Panel

The Layers dockpanel is used for organizing files into layers and groups of layers. It can be opened from the main application menu (Window → Layers Panel), or by clicking its icon on the toolbar. History Panel

The History Panel gives you quick access to your five last used brushes and colors.
